VIVID 2017: Marketing Strategy for Creative Business
Creative Plus Business
Saturday, 27 May 2017 from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm (AEST)
Darlinghurst, NSW
Marketing is one of the most despised and least understood aspects of running a creative business and being an arts entrepreneur. This fun and practical workshop explores the mystery behind the marketing magic: devising strategy, making measurements and meeting goals. We’ll also examine some of the key elements necessary for a successful marketing campaign, including the use of websites, social media and word of mouth.
During this presentation you’ll learn:
- The importance of understanding your clients and customers;
- How to love your competitors;
- The single most important thing about your website.
These Marketing Strategy tips are tailored specifically to creative people who are (or want to be) self-employed, and the tips are relevant no matter what your profession – filmmakers, writers, designers, visual artists, performers – all can benefit from a quick introduction or refresher to the basics of creative business.
Marketing Strategy for Creative People is presented by Monica Davidson, the Doyenne of Creative Plus Business and an award-winning creative industries consultant and presenter with decades of personal experience in both creative practice and arts business. Watch Monica in action here.
All participants at the Marketing Strategy presentation receive a workbook stuffed full of extra resources and exercises in both printed and PDF form, a link to a bespoke website with links and notes, and a chance to network with other people just like them.
If you reside in NSW, you'll also get the chance to benefit from two free business advisory sessions with the team at Creative Plus Business. These sessions will be subsidised in full by the NSW Industry Business Connect program – no strings attached!

FAQs
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
This event is open to all ages – but be warned, Monica is a fan of ‘colourful’ language!
What's the address again?
We are in DARLINGHURST, not Paddington! Between Crown and Riley streets, opposite the ANZ bank.
Can I park? Should I drive?
Street parking is very limited. What little is available is timed and costs roughly $4.50 per hour. There is a Wilson parking station nearby at 46 Riley Street which is more reasonable - the flat rate is $15 per day on weekends. It's about 10 minutes walk from our location.
What are my public transport options getting to the event?
BY TRAIN: The closest railway station is Museum, and the venue is a short walk up Oxford Street. BY BUS: All of the Oxford Street buses go past our building and will drop you at the nearest stop near the corner of Crown Street. The 440 and the M10 also come from Central.
Do you offer concessions?
Not usually. We think the price offering is already reasonable, but feel free to get in touch if you’re very strapped for cash and we’ll see what we can do.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
You can give your ticket to someone else to use, but there will be no refunds if you can't attend. Let us know in advance if you can’t attend and we’ll try and pop you in another masterclass.
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Please email sarah@creativeplusbusiness.com or call the office on 02 8091 2082.
